A History of Success
Today's GF Energy is built on a solid foundation of success and industry-wide credibility. Created in 1988 as the Washington International Energy Group, the company was acquired by PHB Hagler Bailly in 1999 and it by PA Consulting in 2000. GF Energy was created in June 2001 by Roger Gale carrying on the tradition of ahead-of-the curve practical management strategy and counsel.

Roger W. Gale
President and CEO, GF Energy
Roger Gale has managed and participated in numerous senior executive planning and strategic business design processes in North America, Europe and Asia. He is well-known globally as a leading corporate strategist and publisher of Electricity Outlook. In addition, he has expertise in corporate governance for large enterprises. Currently, his work focuses on new generation and demand-response strategies.
He is widely quoted in leading business publications including Fortune, Business Week, Financial Times and appears on CNN, PBS, etc. He is a frequent public speaker at industry and in-house events.
Roger began consulting in 1988 after working in senior positions for the US Department of Energy, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the US Environmental Protection Agency. He was an assistant to the secretary of energy and the EPA administrator and served as director of external affairs at FERC. Prior to working for the US government he lived in Japan where he covered energy issues for a number of publications. Since entering consulting in 1988, he has developed skills in successfully managing top level corporate business development processes working with boards, shareholders and senior executives. He was CEO of PHB Hagler Bailly and headed PA Consulting's global energy practice before starting GF Energy in 2001.
Roger has a PhD in political science from the University of California, Berkeley. He serves on the board of directors of Adams Express, Petroleum and Resources Corp, Ormat and the US Energy Association.

Jean-Louis Poirier
Senior Strategist
Jean-Louis Poirier is one of the world's leading experts on global power markets, technologies and new business opportunities. He has assisted many large US, European and Japanese companies and is a consultant to many of the leading generation vendors. He has recently managed extensive cost analyses on new nuclear reactors for a leading global vendor; conducted a review of transmission business opportunities in North America; and carried out a detailed assessment of transmission and distribution asset management practices among US utilities.
He has actively followed the worldwide power markets. For both US and European clients, he has led power market studies, developed merchant power plant portfolio approaches, outlined new trading strategies for energy marketers, and helped define innovative retailing products and business concepts for gas and electric utilities. He has strong experience in distributed generation and energy services for having worked with all the key players in that field.
He formerly was a partner at PA Consulting and Hagler Bailly, its predecessor company. Jean-Louis has an MBA from Northwestern University.

David Bodde
Senior Strategist
A leading public policy expert, business strategist and governance decision-making expert, David Bodde provides counsel to many energy companies. He is Senior Fellow and Professor at the Arthur M. Spiro Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership at Clemson University and was formerly the executive director of the Commission on Technology and Engineering Systems at the National Academy of Sciences. He recently published a new book, The Intentional Entrepreneur.
David has a PhD in business administration from Harvard University. He is on the board of directors of Great Plains Energy and other companies.

James Veras

Jim has been associated for more than 20 years with the World Environment Center where he managed many of the non-profit's global programs. Previously, he was a senior executive at Hess, Ford, and other global firms. He is an expert on organizational performance and change.
